Today we discuss about the PSL Players in IPL 2021. PSL or Pakistan Super League is the T20 tournament hosted by Pakistan Cricket Board and played between six franchises in a double round robin followed by play offs. The 2020 edition saw playoffs being replaced by knockouts reducing the number of matches by 1. Pakistan Super League 2020 was the fifth edition and some of the cricketers who featured there would go on to play in the Indian Premier League 2021.
PSL Players in IPL 2021
Jason Roy
The South-African-born-English Top order Batsman Jason Jonathan Roy was part of Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan Super League 5. Roy would go on to score 233 runs from 8 matches including two fifty plus score at a strike rate of 120 with his best being 73 not out. Jason Roy would go on to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League, though he wasn’t chosen by any team during the season’s mini auction. He was signed by the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium based side as a replacement of all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who withdrew from the tournament edition getting him among the PSL players in IPL 2021.
Faf du Plessis
One of the consistent run-scorers of the South African Team, Francois du Plessis was part of Peshawar Zalmi during the playoff stage, but would get just a match in the tournament edition scoring 31 runs in a lost cause. His team would finish 4th in the tournament edition, as he would move over to his regular side in Indian Premier League as one of the member of Chennai Super Kings think tank and would thus get listed among the PSL players in IPL 2021.
Liam Livingstone
The Lancashire Cricketer Liam Stephen Livingstone was part of Peshawar Zalmi Franchise in Pakistan Super League 2020. Livingstone would score 54 not out as his best score in the tournament edition where he would gather 108 runs at a strike rate of 150 from 8 matches. The all-rounder would be picked by the Jaipur based Indian Premier League franchise Rajasthan Royals at a cost of 75 Lacs INR during the auction as he would also joined others in the list of PSL players in IPL 2021.
Dawid Malan
The Yorkshire left handed T20 Cricketer would play for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League’s 5th edition. Malan would go on to score 131 runs from 4 matches at a strike rate of 142. His team would finish 6th in the 6 team competition and Dawid Johannes Malan would move over to Indian Premier League side Punjab Kings at a cost of 1.5 Crore INR, thus featuring among the PSL players in IPL 2021.
Chris Jordan
The Barbados-born England Cricketer Christopher James Jordan would go on to play for Karachi Kings in Pakistan Super League’s last edition. Jordan, among the good death bowlers, would pick 9 wickets in the tournament edition from 9 matches. Chris would then move over to his regular side in Indian Premier League, Punjab Kings (earlier Kings XI Punjab) to be listed amongst the PSL players in IPL 2021.
Fabian Allen
Jamaican All-Rounder was part of the Multan Sultans in Pakistan Super League 2020. Fabian Allen joins Punjab Kings in Indian Premier League as he is among the PSL Players in IPL 2021, though it is yet to be found as to how many matches will he get during the ongoing tournament edition.
Chris Lynn
The Hard hitting batsman from Queensland, Christopher Austin Lynn was part of Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan based T20 tournament. Lynn would score 284 runs including a hundred and a fifty, his highest score being 113 not out, at a strike rate touch less than 180. The Queensland would then move over to second time defending champions Mumbai Indians to be among the PSL players in IPL 2021.
Ben Cutting
Australian All-rounder Benjamin Colin James Cutting was part of Quetta Gladiators in the PCB run T20 league. Ben Cutting would go on to score 146 runs and pick 8 wickets during the tournament edition before moving over to India to join Kolkata Knight Riders to be among the PSL Players in IPL 2021. With Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell and Pat Cummins being obvious choices in playing XI, Cutting has a challenge to win this fourth slot of overseas players.
Moeen Ali
The Warwickshire All-rounder Moeen Ali was part of Multan Sultans franchise in PSL 2020. Moeen would score 138 runs with 65 as his best and pick 5 wickets in the tournament edition before moving over the Indian Premier League 2021 auctions where he would be picked by the MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings for the season. The England Cricketer Ali would thus be among the PSL player in IPL 2021. Ali would be looking forward to make it a better season before everyone goes our for Mega auction in 2022.
These were the international cricketers who were part of Pakistan Super League 2020 edition and are now in the squads of Indian Premier League teams.
