Sachin Tendulkar led India would go to Australia to play against Steve Waugh led team in a 3-test match Border Gavaskar Trophy in season 3. The team would lose the series 3-0 as Ricky Ponting & Glenn McGrath would lead the batting and bowling cards for the hosts.
For the visiting team, Sachin Tendulkar and Ajit Agarkar led the batting & bowling cards. Australia won the trophy and got themselves in the list of the Border Gavaskar Trophy Champions by season.
India (2001)
Sourav Ganguly led India would play against Steve Waugh led team in a 3-test match Border Gavaskar Trophy in season 4 at home. India would win the series 2-1 as VVS Laxman & Harbhajan Singh would lead the batting and bowling cards for the hosts.
