Today we bring you the amazing tennis players who became the Australian Open 2020 Champions. Australian Open is the first grand slam tournament of the year. The edition 2020 was the 108th Australian Open; 52nd time this tournament happened in open era. The tournament have professional tennis player competing in singles, doubles & mixed doubles while junior players & wheel-chair tennis players competed in singles and doubles. Novak Djokovic (Men’s Singles)
Serbian Powerhouse Novak Djokovic was on route to defend his 2019 title when he came to Melbourne park. He started his title defense with a match against German Jan-Lennard Struff which he won 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in four sets. In the second round, he won 6-1 6-4 6-2 against Tatsuma Ito. His third & fourth round matches were as easy as his second round match, as he won in straight sets against Yoshihito Nishioka & Diego Schwartzman.
Nole was in the quarterfinals of a tournament he would go on to win to pocket his 8th Australian Open title. His quarterfinal match against Milos Raonic was a 3 set affair as the Serbinator would win this 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7-1) to set clash with the greatest grand slam champion of this era, Roger Federer. The match was deemed as clash of titans but it wasn’t to be. Djoker won the first set 7-1 in tie breaker after a 6-6 score and then wouldn’t allow the Great Swiss any space to come close winning the other two sets comfortably. He was into the final, inches away from the title, his eighth, but the match turned out to be one of the most exhaustive one for the Serbian Giant.
His title clash was against Dominic Thiem who became the first Austrian tennis player to play an Australian Open final when he reach the Australian Open 2020 final defeating Alexander Zverev of Germany 3-6 6-4 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-4). Thiem made the title defense a grand contest and showed what he could become in coming days. Nole won the first set 6-4 but Thiem got the second & third set 6-4 6-2. The title looked going the other way but Djoker was not to perturbed by the challenge. He would win the next two sets 6-3 6-4 to get the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup 2020 and his name listed among the Australian Open 2020 Champions.
Sofia Kenin (Women’s Singles)
The American Tennis player Sofia Anna Kenin would go on to win her first Grand Slam title as she would win the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup in 2020 edition. Sonya would defeat Martina Trevisan and Ann Li in straight sets in first two round. Kenin’s first tough match was the third round match against Zhang Shuai which she won 7-5 7-6 (9-7) to set a clash with compatriot Coco Gauff in the fourth round. Gauff won the first set 7-6 (7-5), before losing the second and 3rd 0-6, 3-6 to Kenin as Kenin would move to quarterfinal.
In the quarterfinal, Sofia Kenin defeated Ons Jabeur in straight sets to set a clash against Ashleigh Barty which she won 7-6 (8-6) 7-5. The title clash would have Kenin competing against Garbiñe Muguruza who reached final after defeating Simona Halep in the semifinal. The match lasted 3 sets with Muguruza winning the first 6-4. Kenin won the next two 6-2 6-2 to get listed among the Australian Open 2020 Champions.
Rajeev Ram- Joe Salisbury (Men’s Doubles)
In the men’s doubles, US- UK pair of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury would become the Australian Open 2020 Champions after defeating Australian pair of Max Purcell & Luke Saville in straight sets.
Tímea Babos- Kristina Mladenovic (Women’s Doubles)
In the women’s doubles, Hungarian- French pair of Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic would become the Australian Open 2020 Champions after defeating Taipei-Czech pair of Hsieh Su-wei & Barbora Strýcová in straight sets.
Barbora Krejčíková- Nikola Mektić (Mixed Doubles)
In the mixed doubles, Czech- Croatian pair of Barbora Krejčíková and Nikola Mektić would become the Australian Open 2020 Champions after defeating US-UK pair of Bethanie Mattek-Sands & Jamie Murray in straight sets.

Harold Mayot (Boys’ Singles)
In the boys’ singles, Harold Mayot of France defeated compatriot Arthur Cazaux 6-4 6-1 in the Australian Open final to win his first junior title.
Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva (Girls’ Singles)
In the Girls’ Singles, Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva of Andorra defeated Weronika Baszak of Poland 5–7, 6–2, 6–2 in the final to win her first Australian Open junior title.
Nicholas David Ionel- Leandro Riedi (Boys’ Doubles)
In the boys’ doubles, Romania- Swiss pair of Nicholas David Ionel and Leandro Riedi would become the Australian Open 2020 Champions after defeating Polish-Latvian pair of Mikołaj Lorens & Kārlis Ozoliņš 6–7(8–10), 7–5, (10–4) in straight sets.
Alexandra Eala-Priska Madelyn Nugroho (Girls’ Doubles)
In the Girls’ doubles, Philippines – Indonesian pair of Alexandra Eala and Priska Madelyn Nugroho would become the 2020 Champions after defeating Slovenian-British pair of Živa Falkner & Matilda Mutavdzic 6–1, 6–2.

Shingo Kunieda (Men’s Singles)
In the Wheelchair Men’s Singles, Shingo Kunieda of Japan defeated Gordon Reid of UK 6–4, 6–4 in the Australian Open final to win his tenth singles title.
Yui Kamiji (Women’s Singles)
In the Wheelchair Women’s Singles, Yui Kamiji of Japan defeated Aniek van Koot of Netherlands 6–2, 6–2 in the Australian Open final to win her second singles title.
Dylan Alcott (Quad Singles)
In the Wheelchair Quad Singles, Dylan Alcott of Australia defeated Andy Lapthorne of UK 6–0, 6–4 in the Australian Open final to win his sixth singles title.
Alfie Hewett- Gordon Reid (Men’s Doubles)
In the Wheelchair Men’s Doubles, United Kingdom pair of Alfie Hewett & Gordon Reid defeated French pair Stéphane Houdet & Nicolas Peifer 4–6, 6–4, [10–7] in the Australian Open final to win the title.
Yui Kamiji – Jordanne Whiley (Women’s Doubles)
In the Wheelchair Women’s Doubles, Japanese-UK pair of Yui Kamiji- Jordanne Whiley defeated French pair Diede de Groot -Aniek van Koot 6–2, 6–4 in the Australian Open final to win the title.
Dylan Alcott- Heath Davidson (Quad Doubles)
In the Wheelchair Quad Doubles, Australian pair of Dylan Alcott & Heath Davidson defeated UK-US pair Andy Lapthorne & David Wagner 6–4, 6–3 in the Australian Open final to win the title.
