The tennis season 2020 has started on a different note. Along with the Davis Cup a new World Series event in tennis has been introduced, this one under the aegis of the ATP and named as the ATP Cup. The ATP Cup 2020 has started from the 3rd of January and will be a 10 day-long event. The venue of the prestigious tournament is Australia, the same country where the season’s 1st Grand Slam is played. Three Australian cities Brisbane, Perth and Sydney are playing host to the tournament.
The Global Tennis Affair
The ATP Cup is a 24 nation event where all teams have been placed in 6 groups. There best team from each group along with 2 best 2nd performing sides will get an entry in the knockout stage. In all every team has 5 players who will play 2 singles and 1 doubles match against 3 other opponent teams in the same group.

Star Players Representing Their Home Nations
The ATP Cup will see all top ranked players in the world except Roger Federer represent their home nations and lead their respective teams. Tennis greats and current leaders of world ranking Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are focusing on bringing the glory home. The Next-Gen stars Dominic Thiem, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev are also aiming the same and so are the emerging stars like Shapovalov, Felix Auger Aliassime and Alex De Minuar.
In all the 1st edition of the ATP cup promises a great 10 days of tennis in both singles as well as doubles arena. The event also boasts a lofty prize money of 15 million US dollars up for grabs. Also the player who wins all singles matches would earn 750 ATP points and the player winning all his doubles matches would earn 250 ATP doubles points. Also it could be an ideal opportunity for the players to find their form and rhythm ahead of the Australian Open 2020 in Melbourne.
