Limited over version of Cricket originated when more result oriented was sought. 60 overs cricket format offered the teams to contest for result more than the test format. 10. Rahul Dravid (India)
Indian Cricketer Rahul Dravid announced his arrival with the runs he scored at ICC Cricket World Cup 1999. Sent by then Captain Mohammad Azharuddin at number 3, he made the most of the opportunities to cement his place in the ODI format. Dravid is 10th on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Rahul Dravid scored 10889 runs in 318 innings of 344 ODIs he played. He faced 15284 balls to score these runs at an average of 39.16 and strike rate of 71.24. Dravid’s 10000+ runs included 12 hundreds and 83 fifties, not to mention 13 ducks.
Dravid rarely hit a lofted shot. Rahul is the only Cricketer in Top 20 of most ODI runs who has less that 50 sixes. He remained not out at 40 occasions and his career best innings was 153 against New Zealand.
9. Sourav Ganguly (India)
Former India Captain Sourav Ganguly was first Indian to score ODI century against Australia in Australia. He’s also the first ODI cricketer to win four back to back man of the match awards. Ganguly is 9th on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Sourav Ganguly scored 11363 runs in 300 innings of 311 ODIs he played. He faced 15416 balls to score these runs at an average of 41.02 and strike rate of 73.7. Ganguly’s 10000+ runs included 22 hundreds and 72 fifties, not to mention 16 ducks.
He remained not out at 23 occasions and his career best innings was 183 against Sri Lanka at the ICC Cricket World Cup 1999. Known for his lofted shots over left arm spin, Ganguly hit 190 sixes in a 15 year career.
8. Jacques Kallis (South Africa)
Former Proteas Cricketer Jacques Kallis was the first player to score 8,000 runs and scalp 200 wickets in both Test and ODI cricket. He’s arguably the best all-rounder coming from South Africa. Kallis is 8th on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Jacques scored 11579 runs in 314 innings of 328 ODIs he played. He faced 15885 balls to score these runs at an average of 44.36 and strike rate of 72.89. Kallis’ 10000+ runs included 17 hundreds and 86 fifties, not to mention 17 ducks. He remained not out at 53 occasions and his career best innings was 139 against West Indies. Also a decent medium pacer, Kallis hit 137 sixes.
7. Inzamam-ul Haq (Pakistan)
Former Pakistan Skipper Inzamam-ul Haq scored his first ODI century against Sri Lanka. Haq is 7th on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Inzamam scored 11739 runs in 350 innings of 378 ODIs he played. He faced 15812 balls to score these runs at an average of 39.52 and strike rate of 74.24. Haq’s 10000+ runs included 10 hundreds and 83 fifties, not to mention 20 ducks & 40 run outs. He remained not out at 53 occasions and his career best innings was 137* against New Zealand.
6. Virat Kohli (India)
Current Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli is seen as someone who’ll reach to every records Sachin has created. Kohli has scored 7000+ runs while chasing. He is 6th on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Virat scored 12040 runs in 242 innings of 251 ODIs he has played so far. He has faced 12912 balls to score these runs at an average of 59.31 and strike rate of 93.24. Kohli’s 10000+ runs included 43 hundreds and 60 fifties, not to mention 13 ducks.
He has remained not out at 39 occasions and his career best innings was 183 against Pakistan. A chase-master, Kohli has hit 120 sixes.
5. Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka)
Former Sri Lanka Skipper Mahela Jayawardene made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe, then were a formidable side. He is 5th on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Mahela scored 12650 runs in 418 innings of 448 ODIs he played. He faced 16020 balls to score these runs at an average of 33.37 and strike rate of 78.96. Jayawardene’s 10000+ runs included 19 hundreds and 77 fifties, not to mention 28 ducks.
He remained not out at 39 occasions and his career best innings was 144 against England. Jayawardene hit 76 sixes in a 17-year career.
4. Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka)
Former Sri Lanka Swashbuckling Opener Sanath Jayasuriya has scored 100 off just 48 balls against Pakistan. His career best 189 against India is the best innings by a Sri Lanka Cricketer. He is 4th on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Sanath scored 13430 runs in 433 innings of 445 ODIs he played. He faced 14725 balls to score these runs at an average of 32.36 and strike rate of 91.2. Jayasuriya’s 10000+ runs included 28 hundreds and 68 fifties, not to mention 34 ducks. He remained not out at 18 occasions and hit 270 sixes in a 22-year career.
3. Ricky Ponting (Australia)
Former Aussie Skipper Ricky Ponting scored centuries against all ODI cricketing nations. Ponting was the first ODI Cricketer to achieve this incredible feat. He is 3rd on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Ponting scored 13704 runs in 365 innings of 375 ODIs he played. He faced 17046 balls to score these runs at an average of 42.03 and strike rate of 80.39. Ricky’s 10000+ runs included 30 hundreds and 82 fifties, not to mention 20 ducks. He remained not out at 39 occasions and hit 162 sixes in a 22-year career. His career best 164 was against South Africa.
2. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)
Former Sri Lanka Cricketer Kumar Sangakkara is 2nd on the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs. Kumar scored 14234 runs in 380 innings of 404 ODIs he played. He faced 18048 balls to score these runs at an average of 41.98 and strike rate of 78.86. Sanga’s 10000+ runs included 25 hundreds and 93 fifties, not to mention 15 ducks. He remained not out at 41 occasions and hit 88 sixes in a 15-year career. His career best 169 was against South Africa.
1. Sachin Tendulkar (India)
Former India Cricketer and legend Sachin Tendulkar holds the Indian record for most ODI centuries at home soil with 20. Kohli is just a century behind at 19. Sachin currently tops the list of cricketers who have scored most ODI runs.
Tendulkar scored 18426 runs in 452 innings of 463 ODIs he played. He faced 21367 balls to score these runs at an average of 44.83 and strike rate of 86.23. Sachin’s 15000+ runs included 49 hundreds and 96 fifties, not to mention 20 ducks.
He remained not out at 41 occasions and hit 195 sixes in a 23-year career. His career best 200 not out was against South Africa. He was the first cricketer to score an ODI double hundred.
