Kolkata: Left-handed Sudip Chatterjee couldn’t have asked for a better start to this year’s domestic season as he slammed his second hundred to give Bengal the upper hand against Chattisgarh in the Ranji Trophy fixture in Raipur on Sunday.
The Barasat lad smacked 12 fours en route to his knock as helped Bengal reach to a dominating first innings total of 529/7 with the help of quality innings by Koushik Ghosh (118) and Abhishek Raman (94). Having played for India A in the tour of South Africa for four-day games, the 25-year-old has had the opportunity to play under the guidance of the veteran Rahul Dravid and it can be one of the reasons why he has evolved into a better and a more responsible and consistent batsman.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was ignored alongside spin bowling partner Ravichandran Ashwin for the limited overs’ series against New Zealand, registered a magnificent double ton on the second day’s play in Rajkot on Sunday.
Beginning the day at 150, Jadeja showed composure and patiently dealt with the job and make a statement.
