Today we discuss about the PSL Players in IPL 2020. With the meteoric rise of the Indian Premier League into the biggest and most successful franchise cricketing T20 tournament in the world, many other cricketing countries took up the decision to start their T20 league. Although there was a huge financial motive behind this decision, a primary intention was to prepare a bench strength of domestic players who could be called upon for national duty when required to substitute the regular players in the squad.
Thus Pakistan Cricket Board decided to start the Pakistan Super League which soon became one of the biggest T20 tournaments in the Asian subcontinent. Although it was never really at par with the IPL in terms of size, scale and finances involved it became a sensational show for cricket fans all across the world. Following are the list of top PSL Players in IPL 2020-
Chris Jordan
One of England’s most dependable death bowlers at the moment, Chris is a limited-overs specialist. Since 2018 he has been an instrumental part of the England bowling quartet which has been successful in bowling out strong oppositions for relatively paltry totals.
His ability to bowl immaculate yorkers at the death and a deceptive slower ball make him a difficult bowler to negotiate in the final few overs of an innings, an area of operation where he is most effective. Chris has lately been featuring in all the matches for the Kings XI Punjab franchise and has been an important part of the resurgence that the franchise is showing in the IPL. Mitchell McClenaghan
One of Mumbai‘s highest wicket-taker in the previous edition of the IPL, Mumbai’s depth in the fast bowling department is suggestive of the fact that a prime death bowler in the form of McClenaghan has not been getting regular opportunities to feature in the playing XI.
With James Pattinson, Trent Boult, and Jasprit Bumrah all being among wickets, Mumbai has not felt the absence of Mitchell in the team set up. However, with the team having qualified to the playoffs with 2 matches remaining, there is a chance that they might try out McClenaghan as the third seam-bowling option in place of James Pattinson. Shane Watson
Among the top PSL Players in IPL 2020 and an explosive all-rounder in his prime, Watson is not even half the player he used to be with his incredible hitting abilities becoming one-dimensional with a lack of physical fitness. This has also constrained his bowling which previously was an important part of the array of skills possessed by the player. Since retiring from all forms of international cricket, Watson has been representing the various T20 leagues around the world like the PSL and IPL.
In IPL he has been retained by the Chennai Super Kings franchise, a team which he has represented for a long time now and has had a glorious past with. Although Watson has been nowhere near the explosive player at the top of the order, he has had some individual moments of brilliance in the tournament. But those have been few and far between. Moeen Ali
One of the best all-rounders in the world about 2 years before, Moeen’s worth had fallen drastically with the ace all-rounder falling out of favor with the England national team owing to inconsistent performances in both Test and limited-overs cricket.
Although he was picked up by RCB in IPL 2020, he has not been able to feature in all their matches regularly with the team having problems accommodating an extra overseas all-rounder with Chris Morris coming and contributing to the team’s cause. Moeen’s ineffectiveness has relegated him to be a reserve bench player for the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s team set up this year. Among the top PSL Players in IPL 2020.
