New Delhi: The Champions of 2016 edition of the Pro Wrestling League, Mumbai Maharathi is yet to find rhythm in the season-2 of Patanjali Powervita Pro Wrestling League. A team which comprise big stars like Rio Olympics gold winner Erica Wiebe, World Championship silver medalist Jabrayil Hasanov along with bronze winner Pavlo Oliinyk, Mumbai have lost their both encounters against Haryana Hammers and later NCR Punjab.
It is now upon them to change their fortunes as they now face a stiff challenge of UP Dangal, who are also eager to register their first win of the season. UP Dangal, like their opponents, have not lived up to the expectations. Their grapplers are struggling with fitness issues and are currently out of form.
In their previous game, except Rio Olympics medalist Elitsa Yankova and Maria Mamashuk, not a single grappler has managed to give any fight to Punjab wrestlers.
Speaking about the performance, UP coach Mahasingh Rao said, “We are keeping a close watch on their performance and trying to motivate them to do better.”
Mumbai coach, however, said that blocking of their star player Jabrayil Hasanov of Azerbaijan in the 74kg against Punjab proved costly for them. “However, this time, we are hopeful that all our star players will justify their reputation,” he said.
