Abu Dhabi: In the end of day press conference, the West Indies assistant coach Toby Radford spoke to media after the opening day of the second Test match which they are playing against Pakistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, here.
The home side (Pakistan) won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch, conducive to batting elegance. At stumps on the first day, they reached 304-4 at the close with the best bowler of the day being pacer Shannon Gabriel with 2-43 off 14 overs and best batsman of the day being Pakistan’s Younis Khan who scored 127 – his 33rd Test century, while skipper Misbah ul-Haq is 90 not out.
Radford said he was very pleased with the efforts of the pacer Shannon Gabriel, who was the pick of the WI bowlers and the team is very positive despite their defeat in the last match.
He further said that they would look for early wickets in the morning, not like what happened in Dubai (high score in the first innings). He was positive with the way the team took the challenge and the match went till the fifth day of the test, despite being a young team, specially the way Bravo took the responsibility to take the team through.
