New Delhi: Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mr Vijay Goel formally unveiled the logo of the 8th edition of the Kabaddi World Cup in New Delhi in presence of Mr J S Gehlot, President International Kabaddi Federation and Kabaddi superstar Mr Anup Kumar. The tournament will begin in Ahmadabad next month on October 7, 2016 with Asiatic Lion as its symbol.
The Pro Kabaddi League has already set the stage on fire with their successful four editions, new rules and players from small towns making it to big stages. Ever since the inception of Kabaddi World Cup in 2004 India has gone on to win all the seven editions of the event which many of us are not aware. This edition of Kabaddi World Cup has already promised excitement with lot happening on the court.
Twelve teams are participating in this 8th edition who are divided into two groups- A and B. Group A consist of- India, Bangladesh, South Korea, Australia, England and Argentina and in Group B it will be Iran, Thailand, Japan, USA, Poland and Kenya. There will be round robin matches in all the group in which India will face South Korea in opening battle on October 7, 2016.
The final of the tournament is scheduled on 22nd October and all the matches will be held in Ahmadabad. This is the highest level for Kabaddi World Cup as there are representative from all the five Olympic geographies. This might be the start to take the Kabaddi to Olympics level.
