With the eighth edition of Kabaddi World Cup just hours away there will be representatives from the entire continent galvanizing the mat. While South Korea, Iran and Kenya will the tough teams among the visiting teams, all the eyes will be glued on the men led by Anup Kumar. During Navratri & Garba nights the excitement will be doubled by the Kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad.
South Korean, Iranian and Kenyan players have already participated in the Pro Kabaddi League giving their home teams advantage over others. Jang Kun Lee, Meraj Sheykh and David Mosambayi will be the biggest threats to the Indian team as they know how well we play and what will be team’s strategy during crucial moments. The other names rising from the continents are Campbell Brown from Australia, Someshwar Kalia from England, Michal Spiczko from Poland, Tin Phonchoo from Thailand, Md Tuhin from Bangladesh and Troy Bacon from USA.
In pool A, the Indian team will face the challenge from South Korea first up and then Bangladesh while Australia, England & Argentina will be facing the mat with the changed rules for the first time. While Kenya got attracted to Kabaddi by participating in PKL, the team of USA will be carrying their proud sporting legacy forward to be a part of this event. In 1998 Asian Games at Bangkok, Thailand participated in their highest level event by scale to have been hosted there and the country has been carrying the light forward to participate in the world cup since then.
With bronze in Asian Games of Kabaddi in 2010, Japan is competing at every level to be the best in the world. While most of the countries lack in overall game experience, exposure, inexperience of the teams under the changed rules ensure the Indian team to have an upper hand. But the expectations of 1.2 bn population of India is very tough to carry though the team is capable of galvanizing the best efforts among all participating teams. The matches scheduled from October 7 to October 22 will guarantee thrill, nail-biting finishes and nervous breakdowns on the court.
