Unlike the first match of the Opening day wherein India was stunned by South Korea; the second match went one sided and the title contenders Iran defeated USA with huge margin. From the first raid of the match Iran made it very clear that they are strong contenders for the Kabaddi World Cup title. Meraj Sheykh led Iranian team managed to pull out the convincing victory over USA by 51-15.
While USA is playing their first ever Kabaddi World Cup, Iran had much experienced squad on the other half of the mat. The two-time Kabaddi World Cup runner-up Iran took a comfortable lead of 10-0 within the first five minutes of game. It was getting difficult for USA to open the scoring for their team against the brilliant play by the Iranian team.
From the American side it was only the captain Troy Bacon who managed to gain some recovery by scoring few points but these were not good enough to have any impact of the result. Mohammad Esmaeil from Iran was the top scorer from the side by scoring seven points before he was substituted to give other players hands-on experience with new rules and mat.
Meraj Sheykh and Fazel Atrachali who already played in Pro Kabaddi League with different team were able to score five points each. The rising star of the match was Abozar Mighani who earned five points by showing his excellent defending skills on the mat. The first day of the tournament excitement has set the games where teams will be doing extra to make it to the finals. The road to final is not going to be easy as there are game changing plans and players in the teams.
