5. Yuvraj Singh (India)
The Chandigarh born Indian All-rounder debuted in ODI in 2000. On March 6, India were playing against Ireland at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. India had won the toss and had invited the Ireland team to bat first. Ireland were bowled out for 207 with Yuvraj Singh’s 5/31 from his 10 overs. Zaheer Khan took 3 while Munaf Patel took 1. Yuvraj’s spell got featured in the top 5 list of the best spells in Cricket World Cup 2011. India chased down the target with 5 wickets remaining. Yuvraj Singh also sparkled with bat scoring 50 not out in the chase.

4. Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)
The Pakistani Leg Spinner, who made his ODI debut in 1996, was also known for his blitzkrieg with bat. On March 3, 2011, Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi would bowl a spell of 10 Overs-23 Runs- 5 wickets against Canada. 3. Shahid Afridi (Pakistan)
The Khyber born Pakistani All-rounder Shahid Afridi would bowl a spell of 8 Overs-3 maidens-16 Runs- 5 wickets at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota against Kenya on February 23, 2011. Shahid Afridi’s spell got featured in the top 5 list of the best spells in Cricket World Cup 2011. Earlier, Pakistan had batted first and scored 317/7 with Kamran Akmal‘s 55, Younis Khan‘s 50, Misbah-ul-Haq‘s 65 & Umar Akmal’s 71. Thomas Odoyo took 3 wickets, while Elijah Otieno, Shem Ngoche, Jimmy Kamande & Steve Tikolo all took 1 wicket each. Kenya, in reply, were bowled out for 112. Umar Gul took 2 while Mohammad Hafeez took 1 apart from Afridi’s performance.
2. Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka)
The Sri Lankan Pace Bowler Lasith Malinga bowled an amazing spell of 7.4 overs- 38 runs- 6 wickets on March 1, 2011 against Kenya at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Malinga’s spell got featured in the top 5 list of the best spells in Cricket World Cup 2011. Earlier, Kenya had batted first and were bowled out for 142 as only Collins Obuya & David Obuya scored fifties. While Malinga took 6 wickets, Nuwan Kulasekara, Angelo Mathews & Muttiah Muralitharan took a wicket apiece. Sri Lanka chased down the target with a convincing 9 wickets remaining. Upul Tharanga scored 67 not out while Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 44.

1. Kemar Roach (West Indies)
The West Indian Pacer Kemar Andre Jamal Roach delivered a devastating spell against Netherlands on February 28, 2011 at Arun Jaitley Stadium (the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground), New Delhi. West Indies had batted first and scored 330/8 with Devon Smith’s 53, Chris Gayle’s 80 & Kieron Pollard’s 60. Netherlands, in reply, were bowled out for 115. Kemar Roach took 6/27 from 8.3 overs. Roach’s spell led the top 5 list of the best spells in Cricket World Cup 2011. Sulieman Benn took 3 while Daren Sammy took remaining one wicket.
These were the top bowling spells of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Fourteen teams participated in the tournament and were divided into two pools. The Pool stage was a round robin format and top 4 of each pool would go to quarterfinals which would then decide the semifinals and then the finalists were decided.
