Today we discuss about the CPL Players in IPL 2020. Since its inception, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has been an extremely exciting affair with players from all across the world representing the franchise they have been picked by.
The format for this tournament has been in the same mold as the IPL with several teams fighting it out to win the coveted CPL trophy and earn the right of being called the deserved CPL champions. Many players have been playing in CPL and IPL simultaneously. The majority of these players are from the West Indies and have had a successful stint in both the tournaments. Following is a list of the CPL Players in IPL 2020-
Andre Russell
One of the most popular CPL Players in IPL 2020, Dre Russ as he is better known as has been one of the most explosive forces of nature in T20 cricket that has been witnessed in a long long time. Russell has been a foundational figure for KKR in the last few seasons, single-handedly bailing the team out of trouble and winning games which were seemingly impossible to win in the first instance.
Being a complete T20 cricketer, Russell has been an asset for whichever franchise he has represented. However, this season has seen Dre Russ struggle with the recurring calf muscle injury and he has been out of action for quite some time. His inconsistent showings have hurt KKR’s fortunes. Despite possessing one of the strongest teams on paper, KKR has had an inconsistent IPL campaign with six wins and an equal number of losses, lying mid-way in the points table. Sunil Narine
If Dre Russ’s absence has hurt KKR, Sunil Narine’s inconsistent showing has been the final nail in the coffin for KKR this season. The go-to man for KKR since his debut for the franchise in 2012, the Caribbean spinner was an institution at KKR, instrumental behind both their victories in 2012 and 2014.
However, with his bowling action being reported suspected, his effectiveness has reduced considerably with the reformed action. Moreover, it seems that batsmen are now able to read him and judge the kind of deliveries that he is anticipating to bowl. If KKR still has to go all the way, they need their ace spinner at his absolute best. Among the top CPL Players in IPL 2020.
Kieron Pollard
The mitochondria of the Mumbai team, Kieron Pollard has been the most influential player in the Mumbai Indians set up. A big match player, Pollard exactly knows when to up the ante and play a knock under pressure, more often than not winning games for his team single-handedly.
This season, Pollard has taken up the leadership role with aplomb guiding the youngsters in the team and providing valuable inputs. His camaraderie with the players has been one of the most important factors behind Mumbai’s relatively smooth qualification into the playoffs, which though was a given considering they are 4 times as well as defending champions with the strongest team on paper. Rashid Khan
The Afghan mystery leggie has attained a somewhat cult and legendary status in this format of the game. On countless occasions when David Warner has been in trouble, he has handed over the ball to Rashid Khan and the Afghan leggie has tweaked his team into the match with his ripping googlies and leg-spinners.
This season however Rashid has been fighting a lone battle for his IPL franchise. Although he is among the highest wicket-takers in this edition of the IPL with the best economy rate among the frontline bowlers, his team has languished at the bottom half of the points table with very thin chances of qualification. Among the top CPL Players in IPL 2020.
Dwayne Bravo
The experienced Caribbean superstar Dwayne Bravo who used to weave magic with both the bat and ball in hand and used to win games for CSK daily has lost his rhythm significantly. On the wrong side of the ’30s now, Bravo is nowhere near the menace that he used to be and has been pegged by consistent niggles keeping him in and out of the CSK team this year. Among the top CPL Players in IPL 2020.
