Profile | Andrew Russell is a Jamaican cricketer, who plays from the national side of West Indies since 2011. Russell appears in all formats of the game and represents Jamaican team in domestic circuit. He plays as an all-rounder, who bats as a right-handed middle-order batsman and bowls in a right-arm fast style. He is one of the best all-rounders in the Caribbean squad at present times and probably the most successful West Indian player in twenty20 franchise.
Russell used to play for Under-19 and List-A team before he was selected for the national cricket team of West Indies in 2011. This fast-bowling all-rounder soon became a regular member of the team and a go-to blower for the national West Indies team, after his international debut. But, he restricted himself from the format of test after playing just one single match against Sri Lanka. Apart from international matches, Russell also appears in county cricket, Twenty20 tournament, and Super Leagues for different teams.
This dependable West Indian blower got involved in the controversy of doping and got one-year ban from the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission in 2017. However, he copes up that controversy soon with his skillful performances and currently named for the West Indies team for 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. Besides cricket career, he also runs a successful second profession as a recording artist since 2014. (as Compiled by Madhushree Das Ghosh) (Profile Image from Facebook) |
