Mumbai: Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Czech partner Barbora Strycova move forth to mark their third victory together by proceeding to the final of the Wuhan Open tennis tournament in China on Friday.
The pair beat the Chinese Taipei sisters Hao-Ching Chan/Yung-Jan Chan 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. The second set win of which, was highly accoladed, though they had a higher chance of first serves to win a tight match.
Earlier on Friday the Indo-Czech duo locked horns with Hungarian-Kazakh duo of Times Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).
Sania-Strycova moved on to the women’s doubles title clash in well over an hour, seeding the third place in the tournament.
The Indo-Czech force came into being at the Cincinnati Open, after Sania split with the former Swiss ace Martina Hinges, the last month.
They clasped the Cincinnati cup after beating Martina Hingis and CoCo Vandeweghe.
At the other end, they were defeated in the quarter finals of the US Open- the fourth and final major of the season.
They soon won their second title at the at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.
The duo is in thirst of another win to complete their third title together.
With the recent ventures, Sania still clinches the first position in the world women’s doubles rankings with 9,730 points. With 9725, Hinges is devoid of only five points.
