Mumbai: India v/s New Zealand Test series will kick-off in just 13 days’ time. Captain Virat Kohli is more than ready to berate on Green Park Stadium with his troupe. Kohli’s highly efficient and credible performances in recent World Cup (2015), Tests and ODIs justify his persistence upon the throne.
However the question wanders around the head upon his approach before the start of the Test match against New Zealand in Kanpur on September 22. Is it his flawless batting style, presence of mind on the field or aggressive dedication towards the game which will mark his success and India’s sweep in the upcoming test series?
In recent times we have seen Kohli growing up as a calm and composed cricketer. Even Kohli agree upon that, just a while ago, during IPL 2016, Virat Kohli has stressed that it is pertinent to stay grounded and remain calm despite adulation and fame.
India’s first ever World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev is more confident about his aggression. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Kapil said, “Virat Kohli is a new captain with the thought process that we have to be very aggressive. Aggression wasn’t a part of Indian team back in the 80’s. Need of the hour is you have to be aggressive and hard and Kohli is one.”
Meanwhile, former Australian opener Matthew Hayden told the reporters in Mumbai, “Virat is a special blend of consistency, power, his presence of mind, and his passion for the game. I think those elements are addictive in a personality.”
