Today we’re here with the Cricketers who remained unsold in IPL 2021 auction. While many of these names are already been among news for performances with their international teams, some domestic players also feature in there. The season 14 auction saw South African All-rounder Chris Morris winning the highest bid, Krishnappa Gowtham got the highest bid among the Indian players. Here we talk about those cricketers who remained unsold in IPL 2021 auction.
Marnus Labuschagne (Base Price INR 1 crore)
The Australian All-rounder Marnus Labuschagne was among runs in recent concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy, but the impressive cricketer wouldn’t find the nod of IPL team managements as he remained unsold in IPL 2021 auction. His base price was INR 1 crore. Labuschagne, who has been part of Brisbane Heat in BBL, is yet to play in the franchise based Indian league.
Keemo Paul (Base Price INR 75 Lacs)
The West Indies All-rounder Keemo Mandela Angus Paul was part of the Delhi Capitals side in the IPL 2019 season. He was retained by the Arun Jaitley Stadium side in IPL 2020 but was released before the 2021 auction. The Right arm medium pacer, however, remained unsold in IPL 2021 auction. His base price was 75 lacs in the recently concluded auctions. Paul has played for Guyana Amazon Warriors, Hobart Hurricanes, Montreal Tigers & Quetta Gladiators in other T20 leagues.
Varun Aaron (Base Price INR 50 Lacs)
Indian Fast Bowler Varun Raymond Aaron has had an average Indian Premier League career so far. Aaron has played the Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals in his IPL Career. The fast bowler was released by his IPL 2020 team Rajasthan Royals just before the auctions, but he failed to impress the teams as he remained unsold in IPL 2021 auction. His base price was just 50 lacs.
Colin De Grandhomme (Base Price INR 50 Lacs)
The New Zealand Cricketer Colin de Grandhomme remained unsold in IPL 2021 auction; the All-rounder was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in IPL 2019, but failed to impress with his performances. Grandhomme has been part of Jamaica Tallawahs, Kolkata Knight Riders, Nagenahira Nagas, St Lucia Zouks teams in T20 leagues. His Base price was 50 lacs in Indian rupees.
Sandeep Lamichhane (Base Price INR 40 Lacs)
The Delhi Capitals team had released the Nepalese Leg break bowler just before the auctions. Sandeep Lamichhane plays for the national team of his country, but he also joined the list of 241 players who remained unsold in IPL 2021 auction. His Base price was 40 lacs Indian rupees. Lamichhane got matches in the IPL 2018 & 2019 for the Delhi based side and picked 13 wickets at an economy of 8.34. He’s been part of Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Stars, Jamaica Tallawahs & Lahore Qalandars in other leagues.
Key names that remained unsold in IPL 2021 auctions are Jason Roy, Liam Plunkett, Morne Morkel, Alex Hales, Alex Carey, Adil Rashid, Shaun Marsh, Aaron Finch, Hanuma Vihari, Sheldon Cottrell
Mushfiqur Rahim, Jason Behrendorff, Billy Stanlake, Matthew Wade, Corey Anderson, Darren Bravo, Tim Southee, Fidel Edwards & Carlos Brathwaite. The overall list is long though.
While remaining unsold means end of game for the cricketers who were looking to shine in the Indian Premier League, there have been injury & other reasons that have brought withdrawals from players who are selected, though this number is not many. We expect the fortune to change for those who didn’t find the favor of selectors, and with the IPL scheduled to extend to more teams in upcoming editions, there might be more players coming to the league fold.
