Italian referee Gianluca Rocchi has been appointed to take charge of the 2017 UEFA Super Cup match between Real Madrid CF and Manchester United FC, which will be played at the National Arena Filip II in Skopje on 8 August at 20.45CET.
The 43-year-old from Florence will be accompanied by five compatriots: assistant referees Elenito Di Liberatore and Mauro Tonolini, additional assistant referees Davide Massa and Massimiliano Irrati, and reserve official Riccardo Di Fiore. France’s Clément Turpin will act as the fourth official.
An international referee since 2008, Rocchi has taken charge of 72 UEFA matches. He officiated at nine European club competition matches in 2016/17, including the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg between Leicester City FC and Club Atlético de Madrid, and the second leg in the round of 16 between AS Monaco FC and Manchester City FC.
Last season he also handled the UEFA Europa League semi-final first leg between AFC Ajax and Olympique Lyonnais and was the fourth official at May’s UEFA Europa League final in Stockholm.
