He was a goal machine in the true sense of the term. 5. Manchester United vs Manchester City, 2012-13 Premier League

This one is special for the opposition and for the timing of the goal. RVP took up a free kick 30 yards out in stoppage time in a Manchester derby locked at 2-2. The left footed shot rounded the wall, took a deflection and beat keeper Joe Hart at his far post. The goal stands to be even more special because City was one of the teams looking to lure van Persie away from Arsenal before he decided to join the Reds of Manchester.

4. Arsenal v Charlton Athletic, 2006-07 Premier League

A goal for the generations to remember, RVP scored an absolute screamer against minnows Charlton Athletic at the West Stand from a not so dangerous cross from the right. The Dutch striker made the chance his own, took an enormous risk of volleying with defending legs flying in and converted in what stands out to be his best Arsenal goal to date.

A volley off immense measures. The Dutch striker was at it again as he smashed home from just around the box off a lofted pass from midfield.
