“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce OPPO Mobiles India Private Limited as the new team sponsor for the Indian Cricket Team,” the BCCI said in a statement, according to PTI.
OPPO’s five-year stint with the BCCI starts from April. Earlier Star India did not renew its contract with the BCCI leaving rooms for the board to look for a new sponsor. Star India had major differences with the BCCI owing to which it decided against renewing its deal. The company took over from Sahara as the team sponsor in 2013.

The announcement couldn’t have been made on a more appropriate day after Kohli’s men bounced back in the Test series with a remarkable victory thanks to a superb team effort. It was a much-needed triumph after a disastrous show in the first Test in Pune. A new dawn ushers in, hopefully.
