Kolkata: Sourav Ganguly’s train journey to Balurghat turned out to be a nightmarish experience as he was involved in a brawl with a fellow passenger over a seat.
Ganguly was travelling with joint secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal in when he found that a fellow passenger was sitting on his AC first class seat. The former Indian captain politely asked the man to vacate the seat which was reserved for him but the response that followed was completely unexpected. The man unexpectedly started an argument and when Sourav tried to calm things down and solve the problem, the infuriated passenger started a brawl which forced the RPF personnel to intervene in the situation.
After the scuffle, the CAB president got off the train and a crowd had gathered after getting to know of this chaos. With a ceremony to attend, Sourav thus had to change his berth and take a seat in the AC two-tier berth.

But the former Indian skipper appeared unruffled by this ruckus and was all in smiles at the unveiling of his statue in Balurghat.
“I travelled in train once after 2001. It’s been almost after 15 years,” he said after he deboarded the Padatik Express in Malda.
Earlier this year, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had decided to opt for a train travel with his teammates for a Ranji Trophy match. But his experience was quite different than Ganguly’s and the former Indian skipper might give it a second thought before undergoing a train journey once again.
