In a recent development related to AFC Clubs, representatives of Syrian clubs and members of the Syrian Football Association (SFA) joined an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Club Licensing Workshop held in the Lebanon capital of Beirut this week.
The workshop had Ahmad Masha, Club Licensing Manager of the Jordan Football Association, who explained both the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup club licensing regulations with examples of the implementation of the club licensing regulations in Jordan.
AFC Director of Member Association Development, Stuart Larman, thanked the Lebanese Football Association for their support in hosting the workshop and also stressed the importance of club licensing as a development tool for club football.
Mohamed Mazen Dakouri, Acting General Secretary of the SFA, said: “We appreciate that the AFC has given our clubs this opportunity to better understand the club licensing regulations of the AFC. The implementation of club licensing will help professionalise our clubs and it was a very important forum where representatives of the clubs could ask questions on the topic.
“We understand that there are some areas where our clubs will need to improve and, with regards to this, we feel very fortunate to have the continuous support of the AFC in helping both our clubs and our football association to reach new levels of development.
“The SFA hopes to collaborate with the AFC and the Lebanese FA to conduct more workshops in the future. The support of the LFA has been excellent and we are grateful for their kind hospitality and the professional arrangement of this event.”
The AFC’s Member Association Development Department is planning follow-up activities with the SFA on both club licensing as well as the broader activities of the SFA.
