In the upcoming WBO Asia Pacific Middleweight Championship scheduled to be held at Thyagaraj Sports Complex, New Delhi, British-Indian boxer Sanjeev Singh Sahota will face Vikas Lohan in in a four round contest in one of the five undercard fights on July 16.
The day which will also see the Indian Professional Boxing sensation Vijender Singh take on the Australian Kerry Hope will have these two tussle in front of a jam packed sports arena, it is believed.
Sahota, an Indian Origin super lightweight British Boxer, had a great start to his professional career wherein he won both of the two fights he featured in which had one knocking his opponent out.
Speaking about this fight Sanjeev Sahota said, “I am very excited to be a part of a historical event and I am ready to fight. I’ve been training extremely hard and it’s not just a fight, I am also representing all the British Asian and British community in India as I am the only one that I know of at the moment fighting from the UK.”
Further he added about the opportunity to feature in a fight at his country of origin, “I am honored that my promoter has given me this great opportunity and I will give 150% of me! I am looking forward to meeting all the people in India who said that they will come and will be watching my fight in India and I’m just happy to have such a great support”.
On the other hand, Vikas Lohan professional this year in April and has just one fight under his belt.
On being a part of this fight evening, Lohan said, “This will be a great learning experience for me along with proving myself. I have played only one bout since I turned towards professional boxing but that doesn’t stop me from trying my best to win this undercard fight.”
He was also confident of support pouring in for him as the home boxer, the boxer stated,” I am hopeful that a lot of people from Haryana are also going to be there to cheer for me and boost my morale to win the fight.”
The two have previously been unbeaten in their professional career. The fight will be telecast live on Start Sports, HD 4 and HotStar.
