New Delhi: The India U-15 women’s side scored five goal across each half to thrash Nepal 10-0 in what was a completely dominating encounter in the ongoing SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship at Dhaka, Bangladesh.
As many as two hat-tricks were scored by Priyanka Devi and Sunita Munda, while Lynda Kom complimented with a wonderful brace. Santhiya and Anay Bayi were the other scorers.
Beginning the match it took just four minutes for the Indians to open their account when Lynda put one past the Nepal goalie. Given their aptitude it was a barren spell that followed the goal, with India controlling the proceedings in the middle of the park but unable to reflect their dominance with a goal until the 32nd minute.
It was Lynda once again who made it 2-0 for the girls in blue. The goal not only put India in a comfortable position but also opened the floodgates with the country scoring three goals in the next 10 minutes. A minute after the restart Sunita Munda thumped one before Santhiya and Priyanka Devi etched their names on the scoresheet as well in the 40th and 43rd minute respectively. 0-5 down within the first 45 minutes, Nepal did have a chance to restore parity, with their best chance coming from a penalty that went bagging towards the end of the first half.
Not learning from their first-half experience Nepal conceded again in 53rd minute, when Priyanka ran past a hapless defence to score her second of the day. Not looking to stay behind Sunita too chipped in with another in the 62nd minute. Seven goals down withing the space of an hour, Nepal’s shoulders dropped as the match soon turned into a competition of how many more.
Utilising the opportunity to the fullest both Priyanka and Sunita wrapped up their hat-tricks in the 76th and 86th minute, with Anay Bayi becoming the team’s fifth goal scorer with a wonderful strike in the 69th minute.
The win also meant India remain top of the table having earlier thrashed Bhutan 3-0 in their opening encounter. The ‘Ladies in Blue’ next play hosts Bangladesh in their final group match on 21st December.
