Mumbai: PV Sindhu, after becoming the first Indian woman to win silver not just in Rio Olympics but also in any of the games in any of the Olympics was definitely the happiest woman on Earth.
Rio Olympics was the maiden Olympics for the 21-year-old Sindhu and after winning silver, she proved why she was picked for the Olympics.
After she received her medal, Sindhu was quoted as saying by the media, “I never thought I would make it this far. Overall I am on cloud nine at the moment, this feels amazing,”
And why wouldn’t she be on cloud nine, her victory was not just the medal but also the love of an entire Nation, who after the match, know her by her name.
Her victory was that in a cricket dominant country every one saw badminton with equal enthusiasm, or maybe more. Her victory was that now a lot of children look up to her for inspiration. And her biggest achievement was that in a country where parents make their kids engineer, Doctor, MBA graduate etc., she became an example for them to change their thoughts and let their kids even pursue sports if they like.
Sindhu, at such an young is making a difference and she deserves to be holding that silver medal in every bit.
