Saurashtra: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recreated Yuvraj Singh’s mighty feat as he hit six sixes in an over while playing for Jamnagar against Amreli in an inter-district T20 tournament match at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium on Friday.
The left-hander also went on to score a blistering 154 of just 69 balls as his team went on to post 239/6 in 20 overs.
Jadeja began his big-hitting in the 10th over of the innings and in the 15th over bowled by Nilam Vamja, the southpaw whacked six sixes. In all, he hit a total of 15 fours and 10 sixes in his whirlwind knock.
Amreli, while chasing 240, could only score 118/5 in their 20 overs. Their top-scorer was Vishal Vasoya who made 36, followed by Vamja, who mustered 32 runs. Mehendra Jethva was the best bowler for Jamnagar as he scalped three wickets, while conceding just six runs in his four overs. Jamnagar thus, won the match by a huge margin of 121 runs and also secured 4 crucial points.
Once an integral part of India’s limited overs’ teams, Jadeja has of late being ignored for the 50-over and 20-over formats as his role for the side has only been restricted to Test cricket. But powerful knocks like these not only would do a world of good to his confidence but also would strengthen his case for a return to the ODI and T20I side.
