Kolkata: Right-arm medium pacer Chintan Gaja from Gujarat single-handedly destroyed Rajasthan scalping eight wickets for 40 runs to bowl them out for a meagre 153 on the first day in Surat on Friday.
Gaja struck in the very first over when he removed opener Amitkumar Gautam for a duck as he also received support from Piyush Chawla 1/26 and Siddharth Desai 1/32 as Gujarat dominated proceedings against Rajasthan. They ended the day at a strong position with 90 runs on the board, trailing by just 63 runs.
In Amritsar, Bengal put up an impressive performance against Punjab to have a firm control over the match on Friday. Although they weren’t the favourites going into the clash, left-arm Pradipta Pramanik and right-arm medium pacer Boddupalli Amit ripped apart the Punjab batting with six wickets together as Ashok Dinda, Ishan Porel and Aamir Gani claimed a wicket each. For Punjab, Indian U-19 cricketer Shubman Gill starred with 63 runs but it was a thoroughly dismal batting performance as they could muster just 147 runs in the first innings.
