Profile | Vikas Krishan Yadav is an Indian international boxer, who represents India at the international level since 2010. He is a gold medalist at Asian Games and Commonwealth Games both championships in the lightweight category. He started his boxing career seriously since the age of 10 and went to the Bhiwani Boxing Club for his primary training. He took his professional boxing training from the Army Sporting Institution later. Vikas has participated in 2010 Asian Youth Boxing Championship and began his international career officially. He won a gold medal at that championship and made his Youth Olympic debut later in August in the same following year. In the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics, Vikas won a bronze medal and compensated the sorrow of losing gold with the 2010 Youth Amateur Boxing Championship title. Later in November 2010, he has participated in Asian Games held in China and won a gold medal in the lightweight category. It was 2018, that brought Vikash the satisfactory win of gold achievement, he craved for long. He took part in middleweight category at that championship and won a gold medal defeating Australia. He won a gold medal in the Asian Games 2018 as well and became the first Indian boxer to win gold at both Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. Currently, he is ranked as the 4th boxer in the world with his last year achievements in Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
