Profile | Shimron Hetmyer is a Guyanese cricketer, who plays for the national cricket team of West Indies since 2017. He plays for all formats of the game and represents the Guyana team at domestic level. Shimron is a left-handed top-order batsman and occasionally bowls in right-arm leg-break style. Before entering the national West Indies team, he used to play for the Under-19 team of West Indies and captained it as well. Shimron shone for the very first time in West Indies Under-19 World Cup tournament in 2016 as the emerging youngster of the team. After this, he made his Twenty20 Debut successfully in CPL for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the same following year. After watching his shiny innings in Under-19 World Cup and T20 League, selectors got him the chance to play for the national team of West Indies in 2017. He made his international debut through a test match and appeared in the first ODI match also in the same following year. Shimron plays his debut T20I game against New Zealand.
