Profile | Robin Singh was just the all-rounder India wanted in that era of cricket. A decent lower order bat with a gentle medium pace bowling, he gave India a cushion on the role of 5th bowler and won quite a few matches with his batting as well. One striking fact was seen on the cricket field when a 36 year-old cricketer dived in air to take some jaw-dropping catches. Perhaps he initiated that era of fielding which would go on to betterment with Yuvraj Singh & Kaif in the Backward Point-Cover region (with Robin Guarding either backward point or backward square-leg). Not a very long career based on duration, but an impactful as it brought “fielding” to the key skills in Indian Cricket. |
