Profile | Lasith Malinga is an International Sri Lankan cricketer, who plays for the national cricket team of Sri Lanka since 2004. He has played for all formats of the game but currently appears only in limited overs cricket. He represents the Galle squad in domestic cricket and captains the current T20I Sri Lanka team at presents. He is an immensely talented blower, who can bowl as a right-arm fast and considered one of the best bowlers in this world in limited over format. Malinga has started his cricket career from at a young age by playing with his friends on the sandbank near his locality. His raw talent soon drove him into the professional circle of cricket through the domestic circuit. After playing a few successful matches in domestic field, he got a chance to represent the national Sri Lankan team in 2004 through an ODI match. After this, Malinga made his debut in the rest two formats of the game progressively and gradually became a truly dependable player of the national team over the years. Lasith Malinga is mostly recalled for his distinctive round-arm sling action during bowling. The unorthodox action and dipping slower ball Yorker style of his bowling have made him a threat to the new-age batsman in world cricket. According to many former cricketers, Malinga is the best thing that has ever happened to the Sri Lankan Cricket. (as Compiled by Madhushree Das Ghosh) (Profile Image from Facebook) |
