Profile | Jason Holder is a Barbadian cricketer, who plays for the national cricket team of West Indies since 2013. He captains the West Indies cricket team in test & ODI formats and represents the Barbados squad at domestic level. Jason is considered one of the best all-rounders in world cricket of all time. He is a bowling all-rounder, who could bowl in right-armed medium-fast style and bat as a handy lower order batsman. Before getting entered in the national team, Jason used to play for West Indies Under-19 team, apart from Barbados squad. He has also represented West Indies A team in List A cricket at the domestic circuit. Jason was awarded with the Lord Gavron Award in 2009 for his contribution in domestic tournament in his primary days. The glorious performance of Jason in Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2010 gave him the esteem in world cricket advantageously. After this, he got the call from national side of West Indies in 2012 and finally began his international career in 2013 through an ODI match. He had to wait for one more year to enter the format of test & T20I, and then, made the debut in these two fields successively. With his ‘hit the deck hard’ style and extracting extra bounce style, Jason soon became a regular member of the team in all three formats. His quality of taking decisions with calm and composed mind soon rewards him with the captain crown of the team in 2015. He was elected captain for the ODI format first and then gradually started guiding the national West Indies squad in test format as well. Apart from domestic and international tournaments, Jason also plays of IPL and NCCC in county circuit. Recently, he was selected to lead the team of West Indies for 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup as the captain of the squad. (as Compiled by Madhushree Das Ghosh) (Profile Image from Facebook) |
