Profile | Hashmatullah Shahidi is an Afghan professional cricketer, who plays for the Afghanistan national cricket team since 2013. He has represented Amo Region in first-class cricket and played for Under-19 team of Afghanistan in his domestic days. Hashmatullah appears in Test & ODI formats and has played only one T20I match so far. He plays as a left-handed top-ordered batsman in the team and occasionally bowls in right-arm off-break style. At the beginning of his journey, Hashmatullah used to play for the Under-17 team of Afghanistan. His progressive cricket skills led him towards the Under-19 team of the country soon. In 2010, he took participate in Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in New Zealand and began his domestic cricket career seriously. Hashmatullah is one of the youngest players in the team. Idolizing Kumar Sangakkara as his cricket inspiration, Hashmatullah prepared his way in the national team of Afghanistan in 2013. He is mostly praised for his cover-drive shot and power-hitting style in world cricket. He made his test debut lately in 2018 but starts making his impression since the very first match of his career progressively. He was named in the team for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
