Profile | Hamid Hassan is an Afghan professional cricketer, who plays from the national side of Afghanistan since 2009. He is a fast bowler and appears in shorter-format of the game only. He plays for Band-e-Amir Dragons and Speen Ghar squad both in first-class cricket at domestic level. Apart from international matches, Hamid also plays for Super League tournaments and represents Barisal Burners team in BPL franchise. Hamid started playing cricket at a very young age and has continued his career with professional cricket since his school days, despite the disapproval of his parents. Things turned pretty good for his cricket dream when he got selected for the ACC Under-17 Trophy team in 2003. He idolized Andrew Flintoff as his inspiration and kept working on his body as well as bowling skill to become a perfect fast bowler of the team. He was luckily invited for the MCC young cricketer team and has played for Marylebone Cricket Club in 2007 during his high domestic days. He soon got noticed by the selectors of the national team for his wonderful bowling speed of 145km/h in his glorious domestic days. Then he made his way in the national team of Afghanistan in 2009 and became a regular member of the team within 1 year. Besides a supremely talented bowler, Hamid is also a good commentator and he commentated the APL matches in 2018 in both international and Afghan levels. He was named in the team of Afghanistan for ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. (as Compiled by Madhushree Das Ghosh) (Profile Image from Facebook) |
