Premier league has released their list of fixtures for the year 2016-2017 and with most of the players busy at the Euros, the managers will be going through the fixtures and already prepping themselves up for the upcoming season. But there are a few fixtures which will always catch the eye of the supporters and players alike. We look at the fixtures which are most likely to cause a rumble in the upcoming season:
Arsenal vs Liverpool- August 13, 2016
Few things cause as much excitement as the opening day of the new season and if the season opens with a blockbuster tie like Arsenal vs Liverpool than it adds to the occasion. Both teams had contrasting ends to their season where on one hand Arsenal beat their rival Tottenham to second place, Liverpool had to contend with losing the final of the Europa league to Sevilla. But both will be looking for a fresh start and renewed expectation from the supporters to challenge for the premier league crown.
Chelsea vs Manchester United- October 22, 2016
“He is coming come.” Jose Mourinho will be visiting Stamford Bridge after being sacked early in the previous season and it will be a strange occasion as the Chelsea fans adore The Special One but he will be in red and that will be a difficult thing to swallow for the fans. The match itself will have its heavy weight appeal but this side story brings its own special flavor to the match. Both teams will be looking to put the dismal season and challenge for the crown in the upcoming season.
Manchester United vs Manchester City- September 10, 2016
The acrimony between the managers is well known with both managers having locked heads previously in La Liga, suffice to say they do not have the best relationship. But few can match the CV of either of the 2 managers and the onus will be on both to one up each other in this encounter, with Mourinho considering the premier league his stamping ground and Guardiola to dispel his critics who say he has not challenged himself enough.
Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur- November 26, 2016
Tottenham and Chelsea is rivalry of hate to say the least and the caustic emotions spilled over at the back end of last season when Tottenham travelled to Stamford Bridge to keep their title hopes alive but came out on the wrong side of a 2-1, the match was littered with passion, ill timed challenges and bookings. It will be interesting to see if the same can be expected this year when the two teams lock heads again.
West Ham United vs Bournemouth- August 20, 2016
Last season, West Ham bid farewell to their home the Boleyn Ground and will play host to Bournemouth as they play their inaugural match at the Olympic Stadium. The Stadium is West Hams’ first step to compete with the major players and challenge not only for the top four but also the title in the years to come and if they manage to keep hold of Dmitri Payet they have a real chance of causing a few stirs as Leicester did the previous season.
