Kolkata: Yesterday during the IPL game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Lions, Chris Henry Gayle became the first batsman to score 10,000 runs in the T20 format. While Gayle’s phenomenal knock helped the RCB thrash the Gujarat Lions in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), the bat with which he reached the milestone will be up for auction at the Chris Gayle Foundation launch. The launch is going to take place on June 6, 2017 at London.
Time and again the Jamaican has proved that apart from having a big physique and a distinctive attitude, he has a big heart too. He has been running the Chris Gayle Academy, the motto of which is to improve the lives of the young ones through the game of cricket. He has on number of occasions been seen playing charity matches too.
The Chris Gayle Foundation which is launching a new charity in London, is set to host a grand dinner hosted by renowned journalist Piers Morgan alongside Gayle himself. Now when it’s a dinner hosted by Gayle, one is bound to expect other cricketers at the event. The expectations have been fulfilled and the Chris Gayle Foundation has invited some superstars of the game as chief guests of the event. The list comprises names like Kevin Pietersen and Yuvraj Singh along with others. It is an open event and people have the wonderful opportunity of owning the precious show-piece. The auctioned money will be used by the foundation towards the betterment of the society via young people.
Gayle who failed to have a marvellous start in this year’s IPL, answered his critics with the stupendous performance in the last game against Gujarat Lions. He went on to make a match winning 77 runs from mere 38 deliveries. RCB skipper Virat Kohli supported him well and congratulated him for the milestone he set. We wish the Chris Gayle Foundation all the best!
