In a press release published today the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games Organising Committee CEO Toshiro Muto congratulated the people involved in creating the Opening Ceremony of the Rio 2016 Paralypic Games and said, “I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to all involved in the magnificent Opening Ceremony of the Rio 2016 Paralympics — the first ever to be staged on the South American continent. I would also like to express my sincere admiration and respect to everyone who has worked so hard towards the successful delivery of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
Speaking about the performances during the Opening Ceremonies, he added, “The exhilarating performances in the Opening Ceremony seemed to bring both performers and spectators together, and I was able to gain a real sense of the passion the Brazilian people feel for the Paralympic Games. The moment the Paralympic Torch was lit, it was as if a flame had suddenly been ignited in the hearts of all the athletes who had come together from around the world to celebrate this momentous occasion. The Paralympic Games begin tomorrow, and I am looking forward to many closely-contested matches that will write new chapters in the illustrious history of the Paralympic Games.”
Concluding his statement with the preparations for the 2020 version of the Summer Games, he said, “One of the core concepts of the Tokyo 2020 Games is ‘Unity in Diversity.’ I will be observing the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games closely to further enhance my knowledge and understanding of many aspects, and I look forward to incorporating these into our preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Games during the coming four years.”
