During the season Herschelle Gibbs scored 371 runs off 14 IPL matches including 4 fifties. His best was 69 not out in IPL 2009 and he scored at an average of 33.72 in a season when he had a strike rate of 112.08.

His team, Deccan Chargers, were the Champions in this season which saw them clash with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final.
4. JP Duminy
The left-handed middle order player was part of the Mumbai Indians team in 2009 edition of Indian Premier League. The Proteas batsman is listed among the top 5 of the most runs in IPL 2009. During the season he hit 372 off 13 matches including 5 fifties. His season average was 41.33 and strike rate was 114.46 with his season best being 62.

3. Suresh Raina

During the season Suresh Raina hit 434 off 14 matches including 2 fifties. His season average was 31 and strike rate was 140.90. His best from the season was 98.
His team, Chennai Super Kings, were the second semifinalists who couldn’t go beyond as they finished at 4th.

During the season Matthew Hayden hit 572 off 12 matches including 5 fifties. His season average was 52.00 and strike rate was 144.81. His best from the season was 89.
His team, MA Chidambaram Stadium based Chennai Super Kings, couldn’t do much despite 300+ runs from MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina & Hayden featuring in the top run scorers. The team won 8, lost 6 from the 15 matches they played in the season 2009.
