Ahmedabad: It was the first match of the day between Poland and Iran. Like everyone else Iranian coach anticipated easy win over the Polish team and rested their important players to avoid injuries, if any. The match turned in favor of Poland and Iran register their first loss of the tournament by underdog Poland. Poland upset the Asian giants Iran and title favorites with a 41-25 margin. Poland ended their league with first win over the favorite team Iran.
Every team is settled in Pool A but in Pool B with win Poland has created a Tsunami. The loss of Iran and win of Poland will change the equation for the semi-finals. In the upcoming matches if Thailand beat Japan in their last game of Pool B they will replace Iran from the top of the table. In that scenario Iran could end up playing Rep of Korea in the semi-final while India could have to play with Thailand or Japan.
Shockingly Poland managed to all out Iran twice in second half to increase the score gap and Iran only scored six points in the second half. Polish captain Michal Spiczko played brilliantly by scoring 12 raid points, Piotr Pamulak, Jan Baranowicz also joined the party to take the lead against the Iranian giant. Iran tried to level the game many a times but unaware of the Polish strategy they landed in trouble on the mat.
In the second match of the day, Bangladesh scored the maximum point in Kabaddi World Cup and defeated Australia by 80-8. The technically advanced and experienced team of Bangladesh had fun in their last league match taking Aussies.
