Mumbai: South African origin mid-fielder Sameegh Doutie is expected to return to Atletico de Kolkata for the third edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) scheduled to commence in August. After the end of the last season, rumour mills were abuzz that Doutie was in talks with few European clubs and would seek a transfer in the January window.
But apparently those deals didn’t work out and Doutie is set to return to India donning the Kolkata colours. The midfielder-cum-winger’s inconsistency has been a major issue though his brilliant show against FC Goa in 2015 can’t be overlooked.
That the former Proteas U-20 international will return for another stint with the Atketico de Kolkata was reported by Goal.
“Well, I have it on good authority that Sameehg will return to India for another season. He will continue to play for Atletico de Kolkata in the ISL,” the source was quoted as saying by Goal.
The 27-year-old winger scored three goals from 12 ISL appearances for Atletico de Kolkata in 2015 season, with the performance against Goa FC was treat to watch. He scored twice and had one assist against the Goans. The South African’s inconsistency has been an issue even when he turned out for Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United.
Afater having a barren run for Orlando Pirates with no goals in four outings, he represented SuperSport United in 45 matches and found the net six times during 2012 and 2015.
