Mumbai: The Delhi Dynamo — the franchise owned by the GMS Group — are learnt to have retained Mohun Bagan mid-fielder Souvik Chackraborty for the third edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) to be held from August.
Chackraborty is perhaps the only player to have featured on the roster for the last two seasons too. despite being a mid-fielder, Chakraborty was played as the right wing back in the last edition when Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos served the franchise as the head coach.
The 24-year-old mid-fielder has represented the green and Maroons in 57 matches scoring six goals in the first season back in 2009. He has also played club football for Air India and United SC before returning to Mohun Bagan fold only in 2014.
Even though the Delhi side had so many stars the side never made full use of their potential with fifth and top four finish in the 2014 and 2015 editions of the cash-rich league. Carlos is expected to voach the side in the third season too with former India striker Raman Vijayan as their assistant coach.
Meanwhile, stopper back Lalchhawnkima of Aizwal FC also seems to have created a impression among the recruiters and is now in the Delhi Dynamo fold. It is learnt that he has already signed for the north Indian franchise for the upcoming ISL season.
