Kolkata: Royal Challengers Bangalore unleashed a clinical display via Kedar Jadhav heroics to beat Delhi Daredevils by 15 runs in the second IPL 10 match of the evening in Bangalore on Saturday.
Needing 158 to win, Daredevils could manage a modest 142 for 9 despite Rishabh Pant’s 57 off 36 balls. Billy Stanlake, Iqbal Abdulla and Pawan Negi claimed two wickets each for the Bangaloreans.
Opting to bat, RCB earlier made 157 for 8 from their allotted 20 overs which included Jadhav’s 69 off just 37 deliveries.
Earlier in the evening, Kings XI Punjab skipper Glenn Maxwell’s phenomenal 44 from 20 deliveries helped them beat Steve Smith-led by 6 wickets Rising Pune Supergiants in the first match on Saturday evening.
Ben Stokes (50) and Manoj Tiwary (40*) somehow managed to put up a respectful total of 163 for six for Pune, but it was not enough. Maxwell’s pyrotechnics helped them notch up the target with one over still remaining. The partnership (79) between Maxwell and David Miller (30 off 27) was match winning.
Despite having a strong batting line up consisting of names like Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Pune squad could not do what it did in their opening match.
