Bhopal: In the ongoing Obaidullah Khan Heritage Cup, Indian Oil Corporation and Association of Indian Universities came out winners on the day 5 against Punjab National Bank and Sports Authority of India with a 5-1 & 3-1 margin respectively.
Indian Oil and PNB in their pool C match had a one sided game of hockey wherein Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. ran out winners against Punjab National Bank. Indian Oil started off aggressively and took lead in the 12th minute via Victo Singh; PNB equalized via Arjun Antil in the 24th minute and that was the only goal, PNB could hit. Indian Oil was again on lead in the 32nd minute when Raghunath VR scored of a Penalty corner, and he didn’t stop with this goal as he hit another drag flick into the PNB’s goal 6 minutes later. And, then came the time for Captain Deepak Thakur who also scored a brace in 46th and 64th minute of the game. Devesh Chauhan was the man of the match.
Playing in a Pool B match, Association of Indian Universities beat Sports Authority of India with a 3-1 margin. For AIU, Harmanpreet Singh started the scoring in the 16th minute and it tool SAI to go in second half to equalize as first half could see only that lone goal from Harmanpreet. Universities team took lead again in the 45th minute via Kanwarjeet Singh, before KP Somiah’s 57th minute goal sealed a 3-1 victory to AIU. Paras Malhotra was the Man of the Match.
With these results, BPCL (Pool B), ONGC (Pool C) and RSPB (Pool D) have booked their semifinal berth while the fourth slot (from Pool A) is to be decided depending on the results of the match to be played today at 17.00 hrs.
