New Delhi: On the Day two of the Track Asia Cup, India bagged two bronze medals to take the tally to 8 medals overall.
To add to the medal haul for India, the Men Junior team consisting of Sachin Desai, Raju Bati, Sandesh Uppar and Ashwin Patil added second bronze medal of the day for India in the Team Pursuit 4 km Race. They claimed the third podium position leaving Hong Kong at 4th. Kazakhastan took gold while UAE took Silver.
Starting the medal count for India today was Sanuraj P who won bronze in 1 km Time Trial Men Junior, clocking a time of 1:07.902. TSZ Chun Law of Hong Kong, with a time of 1:07.015 took gold while, the silver was taken by Muhammad Danieal Haikkal of Malaysia, who clocked at 1:07.871.
The Indian team couldn’t do anything in the 1Km Time Trial Men Elite. In the event it was Chung Wing Leung of Hong Kong who took gold medal with a timing of 1:03.332, while Shih Feng Kang of Taiwan and Maxim Nalyotov of Kazakhstan took silver and bronze respectively, clocking 1:05.125 and 1:05.381
Speaking about performance on the day two, the Indian Coach, RK Sharma said, “This is event where World No. 6 cyclist Sahil had to participate and India was confident of Gold but due to injury in training session, however despite having suffered the loss of a strong payer our team bagged the bronze medal.”
Emerson and P Sanuraj will play for bronze medal after the qualifier round today. It will be interesting to see which of the two Indian boys would take the medal home, since they will be pitted against each other at the finals of the Sprint event tomorrow. Chun Long Leung and TSZ Chun Law of Hong Kong will compete with each other for gold and silver position tomorrow.
In other events scheduled tomorrow, the third and last day of the Asia Cup, in the qualifier of the Men Elite Sprint Sprint Event Taiwan’s Shih Feng Kang and Shih Hsin Hsiao will compete against each other for gold and silver while Iran’s Ali Askari and Hassanali will be up against each other for bronze.
