Salt Lake City (RWH) Lake Placid, USA, will be the host for the 2021 IBSF World Championships Bobsleigh & Skeleton, as was decided at the annual congress of International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation IBSF in Salt Lake City (USA). Lake Placid got 24 votes, St. Moritz (SUI) 19.
Lake Placid hosted the 1932 and 1980 Olympics and has also provided the setting for bobsleigh and skeleton World Championships a total of ten times to date. The last time World Championship medals were awarded at the traditional and technically challenging Mt. Van Hoevenberg Combination Bobsled, Skeleton & Luge Track was back in 2012.
Lillehammer to host 2018 Para-Sport World Championships
Host of the 2018 IBSF Para-Sport World Championships will be Lillehammer in Norway. The Lillehammer Olympic Sliding Centre is the most northerly in the world and the only artificially iced one in Scandinavia. It was built for the 1994 Winter Olympics and is located about 15 km north-west of Lillehammer. 2016, Lillehammer hosted the Youth Olympic Winter Games.
