Bucharest: Continuing from their gold medal performance at the Under 18 European Championship in 2015, Hungary’s women won the second edition of the FIBA 3×3 European Championships held in Bucharest, Romania on 2-4 September 2016. With this win, Hungary confirmed their new hegemony on women’s 3×3 in Bucharest.
The winners had a perfect 5-0 record in the championships, including a 21-14 win in the final against hosts Romania and a loud crowd supporting their home team had nothing more to enjoy than a silver.
For the champions it was the pin-sized (1.73m) Dóra Medgyessy who displayed great Basketball skills with a game-high 9 points in the final and was named MVP of the tournament.
In the Team of the Tournament, Medgyessy is joined by the event top scorer Gabriela Marginean of host team and Alexia Rol of Switzerland.
The Swiss, Rol was spectacular in the bronze-medal game, who took the game to overtime at the buzzer but could not win bronze for her team.
The second edition of European Championships brought together the best 12 women’s and the best 12 men’s teams of Europe after a series of three qualifying tournaments.
