Hockey Patiala on Saturday won the 9th Hockey India Junior Women National Hockey Championship 2019 (B Division) as they defeated Hockey Bhopal by a margin of 3-1 in the Final of the competition. In the match for the 3rd/4th place, it was Andhra Hockey Association who defeated Assam Hockey 2-1 to finish their campaign on a positive note.

The Final match saw Hockey Patiala rush to a 2-0 lead after just 13 minutes to put pressure on their opponents. Hockey Bhopal, on the other hand, tried to make inroads to find a way back into the match, and they managed to pull a goal back in the 39th minute as Meenu Rani scored for them. However, Hockey Patiala scored a third goal in the 47th minute to ensure that they comfortably won the match. Goals in Hockey Patiala’s win were scored by Captain Navjot Kaur (8′), Taranpreet Kaur (13′) and Gurmail Kaur (47′).

In the match for the 3rd/4th place, it was Andhra Hockey Association who came from a goal down to defeat Assam Hockey by a slim margin of 2-1. Assam Hockey scored the opening goal of the match in the 14th minute through Soropina Tigga. However, Andhra Hockey Association scored twice in the match as Maheswari Balagonda struck twice (15′, 47′) to give her team the win.
