Today we bring you information about some of the Gujarat Players in IPL 2021. Gujarat has given some renowned names to International cricket like Vinoo Mankad, Nari Contractor & Parthiv Patel. With the advent of T20 cricket and then Indian Premier League in 2008, top domestic and international cricketers would form the teams for the eight franchise of the cash rich league and it would also get some more cricketers from Gujarat to get to fame and international cricket. Cheteshwar Pujara
The Rajkot born batsman Cheteshwar Arvind Pujara made his Saurashtra Cricket team debut in 2005. Pujara would make his international debut in 2010 and would go on to take the slot that went vacant post Rahul Dravid’s retirement. His limited overs career though has been a work in progress. Pujara made his IPL debut in 2010 for Kolkata Knight Riders but he wouldn’t have a consistent appearance in playing XI of the teams he played for.
Franchises would stop picking him since 2014, the cricketer would make a comeback to IPL cricket in 2021 as a part of MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings. Cheteshwar Pujara, still to get a game in 2021 season that was stopped midway, but features among the Gujarat Players in IPL 2021.
Ravindra Jadeja
The left handed all-rounder Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja started his career with Saurashtra Cricket team in 2006 and was vice captain of the runners up India U-19 team at the 2006 ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup. Jadeja made his Indian Premier League debut in 2008 for Shane Warne’s Rajasthan Royals. An electric fielder, a hitter down the order and a wicket to wicket left arm orthodox bowler is what describe Jadeja as he was soon into the good books of top cricketers. Jadeja is listed among the top Gujarat Players in IPL 2021 as an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings franchise.
Hardik Pandya
The Surat born Hardik Himanshu Pandya is another exciting cricketer to come from the state. Pandya would make his first class debut for Baroda in 2013 and later on in 2015 made his Indian Premier League debut for Mumbai Indians. Hardik Pandya has since then been part of the Mumbai Indians team, has also been a regular member of limited overs cricket teams of India. The Baroda all-rounder is, thus, among the Gujarat Players in IPL 2021.
Axar Patel
Another left handed all-rounder from Gujarat, Axar Rajeshbhai Patel, started playing for Gujarat cricket team in 2013 and picked his first 5 wicket haul in first class cricket in his second match against Delhi. The bowling all-rounder as he is called, was picked by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2013. Patel was picked by Kings XI Punjab the next year, and he would pick 10+ wickets for the franchise for next four seasons. During IPL 2019 auctions, he was picked by the Delhi Capitals and features in the team since then as he has consolidated his role becoming one of the top Gujarat Players in IPL 2021.
Jasprit Bumrah
The medium pacer’s is another story to follow. Jasprit Jasbirsingh Bumrah first played for Gujarat Cricket team during 2013–14 Ranji Trophy and would go on to be the top wicket-taker for his side in the season. His performance wouldn’t get unnoticed as he would get picked by the Mumbai Indians side in Indian Premier League 2013. Bumrah, however, would get just two matches in the season, and would remain the work in progress for next two seasons. From 2016 onward, Bumrah has taken 15 or more wickets in each season for the team that won thrice during the period. The pace bowler, thus, represents top Gujarat Players in IPL 2021 as well.
