Kolkata: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly felt that all the three double hundreds made by the Indians (Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma) are special and didn’t look to distinguish too much about them.
“All are good,” replied Ganguly when asked as to which double hundred did he enjoy the most, refusing to differentiate between them.
The CAB president was present at a talk show at the the Khudiram Anushilan Kendra with renowned sports commentator Gautam Bhimani where he, (the brand ambassador of the Tata Steel 25K Marathon) highlighted the importance of running in life. Bhimani likened a marathon to Rohit Sharma’s marathon 208-run knock against Sri Lanka in the second ODI where he began off slowly and gathered pace to finish on a high.
Ganguly heaped praise on the magnificent knock as he said, “It was a remarkable innings. He took just 36 balls to convert his century into a double. I was watching the Sri Lankan bowlers and I said Jesus! He just kept sweeping them into the stands. Three double hundreds in one-day cricket.”
“Time has changed with T20 format. He is a serious player. His one-day record this year is probably the best in the world along side David Warner and Virat Kohli. I expect him to play the same way,” he further added.
He also said that he felt, “sorry” for the Sri Lankans because of the fact that the Indian batsmen have kept on hammering them in India.
“I feel sorry for the Sri Lankans. Earlier it was (Virender) Sehwag, (Sachin) Tendulkar and now it’s (Virat) Kohli and Rohit Sharma,” he said.
